Civil War Travel Trunk

A Travel Trunk will let  you bring the Museum of History into your classroom.  The trunk contains reproduction artifacts, books, reproduced documents, maps and photos, and more.

What is a Travel Trunk?

· Reproduced Confederate uniform for kids

· Soldier’s personal effects

· Two shelter halves, which make a tent

· Maps, documents, letters, photos

· Music CD, View Masters 3D photos, comic books for diverse learners

· Resource book with lesson plans, GPS correlations

The Civil War Travel Trunk will bring  museum-style reproduction artifacts, documents, maps, letters, photographs and more to your classroom.

Make national events more interesting and meaningful by tying them to local history.  The people and materials associated with the photographs, letters, diaries, battle reports and more, are all real people who lived in Thomas County.  Other documents are also from Thomas County.

The Resource Book included in the Civil War Travel Trunk contains suggested lesson plans with Georgia Performance Standards correlations and information about local history during the Civil War. 

Lesson plans address Social Studies, U. S. History, English and Language Arts, Math, Music and Fine Arts standards.

The Travel Trunk is available year-round.
